Ruby Bowen

Mrs. Ruby Silvers Bowen, age 98 of Calhoun, GA, died Thursday January 11th, at Gordon Health Care.

Mrs. Bowen was born in Gordon County, GA on October 12, 1908, daughter of the late John H. Silvers and Vista Carver Silvers. Before her retirement she was employed by King Textiles and was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bowen was preceded in death by her husband, Hill Bowen in 1982 and by a son, Donald Bowen, and by four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Pat Brown and her husband Leon of Dalton and three sons; Jerry Bowen and his wife Joyce, Gene Bowen and his wife Joanne and Wayne Bowen and his wife Marilyn all of Calhoun. One sister, Mrs. Mattie Dodd and two brothers, Bill Silvers and Jack Silvers both of Calhoun. One daughter in law, Evelyn Bowen of Gulfport, Miss. and one brother-in-law, Marvin Weaver of Calhoun. Nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Silvers Bowen will be held Sunday January 14th, at 3:00 PM, from the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Bearden officiating. Music will be arranged by Jack and Virginia Stone. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Dale Bowen, Charles Weaver, Jeff Brown, Donald Bowen, Andy Bowen, Bob Roe, David Descalzo and Sterling Silvers.

The Bowen family will receive friends after 5:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
