Mrs. Ruby Katherine Waddell, age 97 of Fort Oglethorpe, formerly of Gordon County; passed away Friday, January 30, 2009.
Mrs. Waddell was born on February 9, 1911 in Gilmer County, daughter of the late Oscar D. Waddell and Addie Mae Johnston Waddell. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Harold Hammond; a grandson, David Michael Hammond; sisters, Kathleen Coggins, Bertie Smith, and Leila Flowers; and a brother, Willie Waddell. Mrs. Waddell was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors are five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Katherine Waddell will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00pm, from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Johnny McNeese officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Roger Johnson, David Caylor, Jesse Parr, Jimmy Parr, Charles Alexander and Jimmy Waddell. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Saturday evening between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
