Ruby Lee Watkins

Mrs. Ruby Lee Watkins of Sugar Valley, died Monday morning, September 10, 2007 at her residence following several months of declining health.

Mrs. Watkins was born in Gordon County, daughter of the late John Taylor Patterson and Willie Belle Miller Patterson. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Opal Edwards and by two brothers, James (Jim) Patterson and Charles (Charlie) Patterson. Mrs. Watkins was a homemaker and a member of the Sugar Valley Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband Roy W. Watkins, to whom she was married for seventy years; two daughters, Sharron Watkins of Tennessee and Robin Michele Kinsey of Sugar Valley; one son, Steve L. Watkins of Sugar Valley; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Lee Watkins will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Sugar Valley Baptist Church, with Rev. David Ray and Rev. Dwaine Shaddix officiating. Singing will be arranged by Learell Faulk. Active pallbearers serving will include Tim Patterson, Marvin Tate, Ritchie Harris, Randy Chitwood, Ron Norrell, Joel Taylor, Nickie Mills and Chris Patterson. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 10:15 A.M. Honorary pallbearers requested to serve include the Deacons of Sugar Valley Baptist Church, Larry Knight, Mike Gribble, Ken Bryson, Bud Faulkenberry, Lynn Faulkenberry and Gene Faulkenberry. They are requested to meet at the Sugar Valley Baptist Church Wednesday at 10:45am.

Burial will follow the service at the Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Steve Morrow conducting the graveside service. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Tuesday evening, during the hours of 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
