Mrs. Rubye Irene Crumley, age 84 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Gordon Health Care Center following two months of illness.
Mrs. Crumley was born on October 10, 1924 in Hamilton County, daughter of the late Sam and Orene Pilcher. She was also preceded in death by four daughters, Sue Williams, Vicki Williams, Allison Stanfield, and Judy Williams, all of Calhoun, as well as six brothers, James R. Pilcher of Galatin, Tennessee, Ernie Pilcher of Somerset, Kentucky, and Alton Pilcher, Jess Pilcher, Robert Pilcher and Rayford Pilcher, all of Calhoun.
Rubye was a lifelong resident of Gordon County, and served with joy for many years as a nurse at Hamilton Medical Center. She then moved to the Home Health Care area until retirement. She enjoyed traveling and saw many places around the world. She was a member of Parkers Gap Baptist Church in Tennessee.
Mrs. Crumley is survived by one son, Anthon Williams and his wife Cathy of Chatsworth; two sisters, Reba Pierce of Florida and Jennie Whitfield of Calhoun; two grandsons, Tony Williams and Jeff Williams; and five great-grandchildren, Taylor Williams, MaKailea Williams, Jessye Williams, Hagan Williams and Ester Williams. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rubye Irene Crumley will be conducted Saturday at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Jeff Williams and Tony Williams officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Friday evening, during the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
