Ruth Franks Brown

Mrs. Ruth Franks Brown, age 81 of Resaca, died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in Gordon Health Care following several years of declining health.

She was born in Gordon County, Georgia on April 15th 1929, daughter of the late Thomas and Ella Smith Franks. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Carfel "Bud" Smith in 1998, and Fain "Junior" Brown in 2004; four brothers, Luther Franks, Robert Franks, Claude Franks, and Clyde Franks; a sister, Ruby Dean; a grandson, Ricky Postell; and a granddaughter, Teresa Richardson.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Crossroads Community Church, and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Sugar Valley prior to ill health.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Donna Smith of Sugar Valley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Willis Postell, and Vivian and Wade Baldwin, all of Resaca; three step-sons, Harold Brown, Raymond Brown, and Tony Brown, all of Calhoun; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Gerda Franks of Columbus, Georgia; and six grandchildren, Jeff Postell, Tammy Welch, Kevin Smith, Craig Smith, Scott Walraven, and Bridgett Jones. Fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Franks Brown will be conducted Friday, November 26th at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Maynard Thomas and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery at Hall Memorial Baptist Church. Active pallbearers will include Kevin Smith, Craig Smith, Jeff Postell, Mark Welch, Stetson Welch, Chris Jones, and Scott Walraven.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
