Mrs. Ruth Griffin, age 83 of Fairmount, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. She was born in Gordon County on November 24, 1926, daughter of the late Bobby Lee Brannon and the late Audrey Lucille Shirley Brannon. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Alton Griffin; four brothers, and three sisters.
Mrs. Griffin was a homemaker, a member of the Fairmount Eastern Star, and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Ryo.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Johnnie Griffin of Pace, Florida, and Eddie and Susan Griffin of Ranger; a daughter, Carolyn Griffin Ponder of Calhoun; and three sisters, Eunice Ballew and Dymple Childers, both of Fairmount, and Willene Cochran of Acworth. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Keith and Kristi Stanfield, Michael Griffin, and Holly Griffin; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Stanfield and Wyatt Stanfield; a special friend, Mary Jo Risley, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Griffin will be conducted Saturday, March 27th at 3:00pm from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Ryo, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Tom Yancey, Jeff Brannon, Blake Brannon, Jerry Ballew, Jimmy Moore, and Mylon Holbert. Honorary pallbearers are employees of Heyman Hospice. Music will be arranged by Donna Gay.
