Mrs. Ruth Stancill, age 81 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010 in Maryville, Tennessee. She was born in Gordon County on December 17, 1928, daughter of the late John Ervin Rickett and the late Sudie Parker Rickett. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Evenell Hendrix.
During her lifetime, Mrs. Stancill was employed by Burlington Industries for 33 years, and had also worked at Chik-Fil-A in recent years. She was a member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church in Dalton, and had attended Salem Baptist Church in Calhoun.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd Stancill; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and David Queen of Maryville, Tennessee; a brother, J.B. Rickett of Calhoun; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Hilda and Charlie Chadwick of Calhoun, and Jonnie and Terry Erwin of Adairsville; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Mae Nilo; a brother-in-law, Norman Patterson; and two grandchildren, Jason Queen and Justin Queen. Nine nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.
The family would like to thank the Asbury Dementia Unit of Asbury Place Nursing Home in Maryville for their special care during Mrs. Stancill's stay.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ruth Stancill will be conducted Wednesday, April 7th at 1:00pm from the Salem Baptist Church, with Rev. Ray Bearden and Jonathon Purser officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery near Sonoraville, with Rev. Matt Futch conducting the committal service. Active pallbearers will include Terry Erwin, Jason Queen, Justin Queen, Charlie Chadwick, and Lane Erwin.
Mrs. Stancill's body will lie in state at the church from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00pm.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
