Ruth York

Mrs. Ruth York, age 72 of Calhoun, died Friday, August 2, 2013 at Floyd Hospital. She was born in Plainville, GA on January 14, 1941, daughter of the late Burnice and Lunnie Bernett Winkle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tiny Young; grandsons, Michael Crawford and Lamar Smith; and a great-grandson, Allen Kimbrell.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Junior York of the residence; six sons, Buddy Garmon of Dawsonville, Harold Beavers of Calhoun, Mitchell York and his wife Tammy of Calhoun, Danny York and his wife Tambi of Plainville, Ronnie York of Calhoun, and Kenneth York of Calhoun; a daughter, Peggy Grisson and her husband Sam of Royston; a brother, Dub Winkle and his wife Annie Dell of Shannon; and three sisters, Betty Williams and her husband George of Toccoa, Janie Vance and her husband Billy of Calhoun, and Jonnie Bailey of Shannon. Seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth York will be held Monday, August 5th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Marvin Jackson and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Mitchell York, Brody Mills, Corey Mills, Josh White, Josh Elliot, and Ronnie York.

The York family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
