Samuel Lee Junkins

Mr. Samuel Lee Junkins, age 78 of the White Graves Community, Ranger, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Junkins was born on September 17, 1930 in Gordon County, son of the late Samuel and Minnie Noland Junkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nina Clouse Junkins on September 18, 2007. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was self employed in the construction industry.

Mr. Junkins is survived by six daughters, Sandra Dean and her husband Edward of Cartersville, Shirley Dean and her husband James of Gordon County, Brenda Williams of Sparta, Tennessee, Doris Dees and her husband James of Kentucky, and Joyce Napier and Dennie Hensley, both of Kentucky; a son, Dewayne Junkins of Ranger; two sisters, Ora Corn of Ranger, and Bonnie Hibbert of Oakman. Sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Lee Junkins will be conducted Friday at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Brother Isaac Johns officiating. Singing will be arranged by Mable Harris, Iris Parker and Mary Wilson. Active pallbearers serving will include Bo Buis, Sam Buis, Steve Waddell, William Prather, Dewayne Junkins, Darrell Napier and Jay Junkins. Interment will follow the service in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home on Thursday after 12:00 noon.
