Mr. Scottie Joe Sims, age 37 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007. He was born in Cobb County on September 25, 1970, son of the late Thomas Cleveland Sims and Joann Pierce Sims of Calhoun. Mr. Sims was employed by Carpet Enterprises as a warehouse manager.
Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Cleveland Sims and by grandparents, Grady and Ora Mae Pierce and Tommy Sims.
Survivors include his wife, Myra Webb Sims and a son Taylor Scott Sims of the home; mother, Joann Pierce Sims of Calhoun, and a grandmother Effie Hammond of Powder Springs. Three brothers, Tommy Sims, Sidney Sims, and John Sims all of Calhoun, and two sisters, Mary Hall of Calhoun, and Jennifer Sims of Fort Myers, Florida, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Services for Mr. Scottie Joe Sims will be conducted Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Sam Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, after 4:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will include Chris Fletcher, Y.T. Glover, Tyler Thacker, Shane Whitfield and Marty Ray.
The family asked that flowers be omitted and donations be made to the Scottie Sims Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund, c/o Am South Bank, 208 North Wall Street Calhoun, Georgia 30701.
Family owned and operated Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun is conducting the services for Mr. Scottie Joe Sims, age 37 of Calhoun.
