Mrs. Sherry Young Helms, age 43 of Adairsville, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Erlanger Medical Center.
She was born on October 10, 1966 in Fulton County, daughter of Dorothy Juanita Pierce Bell and the late Daniel Clyde Hunton. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by other relatives, Bobbie and Clyde Hunton, Homer and Mae Pierce, and Daniel Clyde Hunton. Mrs. Helms was a dental assistant for Calhoun Family Dentistry, and attended the North Point Church of Adairsville.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy Neal Helms of Adairsville; a daughter, Taylor Michelle Young of Fairmount; a step-daughter, Stephanie Smallwood of Fort Mill, SC; a stepson, Jeremy Helms of Adairsville; her mother, Dorothy Juanita Pierce Bell; a sister, Sandy Michelle Gilbert of Calhoun; a brother, Joseph Bell of Atlanta; and step-grandchildren, Jaycee Helms and Hayden Helms. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sherry Young Helms will be conducted at 11:00am Saturday, July 10, 2010 from the North Point Church, with Rev. Jim Pinkard and Rev. Jether Cochran officiating. Music will be arranged by Trey and Andrew Bentley. Active pallbearers serving will include Ron Bentley, Jeff Thomason, Jeremy Helms, Keith Brookshire, Matthew Gilbert, Wesley McMahan and Dr. Dorsey L. Van Horn. Honorary pallbearers serving will include Hershel Pierce, Tommy Pierce, Roy Pierce, Virgil Pierce, Danny Parker, Larry Gilbert, Charlie Langston, and Dr. Ravi Mereddy. Interment will follow the service in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
