Sherry Lynn Stansell

Mrs. Sherry Lynn Stansell, age 49 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010 at her residence following ten months of illness.

Mrs. Stansell was born on September 30, 1960 in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of Richard and Gilda Heileman Bowman. She was employed as an IT Consultant, and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church - Georgia-Cumberland Academy.

Survivors include her husband, DeWayne Wesley Stansell, to whom she was married for nineteen years; two daughters, Amanda Skoretz of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Brittney Koehcer and her husband Jason of Rockmart; two sons, Dallas Skoretz, II and his wife Heather of Independence, Kentucky, and Dustin Stansell and his wife Kim of Calhoun; a sister, Michelle Barkan and her husband Hal of Taylor Mill, Kentucky; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bowman; and a grandchild, Jara Stansell. Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sherry Lynn Stansell will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00pm from the Georgia-Cumberland Academy Church, with Pastor Don Keele, Jr. and Dr. Jason Fuller officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Dallas W. Skorez, II, Dewayne Stansell, Dustin Stansell, Hal Barkan, Dallas Skoretz, Richard Bowman, and Jeremey Stansell.

Beginning Sunday at 4:00pm, Mrs. Stansell will be placed in state at the Georgia-Cumberland Academy Church, where the family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, again on Monday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm, and on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sherry's memory to the American Cancer Society, the Humane Society, or the Georgia-Cumberland Academy Worthy Student Fund.
