Obituary
Ms. Shirley Mae Padgett McDougle, 80, of the McDaniel Station Road Community, Adairsville, died Wednesday, July 29th at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was born in Bartow County, GA on June 11, 1940, daughter of the late Henry Ford Padgett and Bertie Stell Padgett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother; Joseph Padgett, granddaughter, Tracey McGinnis Whaley, and son-in-law, Michael Hurst.
Prior to her retirement, Shirley was employed by Carriage Industries/Dixie Group for more than 30 years. She worked as a Home Interior Home Designer for more than 25 years. Shirley made floral arrangements, did arts and crafts, enjoyed yard work, and will be remembered for her green thumb. She was a softball player and coach and enjoyed being on a bowling team. Shirley loved to make people smile. Her family will remember the goodies that she loved to give them and her friends will always recall how she made them feel like family. She was an avid doll collector and loved to travel.
Survivors include two sons; David (Donna) McGinnis and Gary (Cindy) McGinnis, three daughters; Sharon (Wayne) Parker, Marie Hurst and Cynthia (Greg) McGuire, grandchildren; Angie (Josh) Glosson, Kim (Phillip) Harp, Jessica (Josh) Witting, Justin (Alexandria) Harris, Chrissy (William) Bryant, Kevin (Jamie) Parker, Amber Parker (Garrett Martin), Charlie McGinnis, Tiffany (Dustin) Loftis, Eugene (Sam) Young, Alan (Lexii) Young, Joshua Hurst, Jason (Kristen) McGuire, Keisha (Todd) Dutton, Krista (Jeremy) Bryant, Great, Grandchildren; Caitlyn and Jenica Glosson, Alex Whaley, Leah, Macey, Cara, and Hunter Harp, Blade and Brant Bryant, Chandler Smith, Jackson Parker, Dakota and Brison McGinnis, Grace Crocker, Fabian Mulkey, Tuff Loftis, Kinlee Young, Lauralye Young, Sadie, and Asher McGuire, Lexie and J.T. Dutton, Reygan and Abby Witting and Ryley, Ryver, Rydge, and Rayven Harris, Great, Great, Grandchild; Daxton McGinnis. Brothers; Kenneth (Nancy) Padgett and Gene (Thelma) Padgett. Sisters; Clara (Eddie) Shope and Helen (Cleve) Wiggins.
A service to celebrate the life of Shirley Mae Padgett McDougle will be conducted Saturday, August 1st, at 2:00 PM from Trinity Baptist Church, 1170 Rome Road SW, Calhoun, GA. 30701 with Eddie Brannon and Bud Owens officiating, music will be arranged by Brian and Amy Padgett and the Connells, interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers serving will include; Kevin Parker, Charlie McGinnis, Jason McGuire, Joshua Hurst, Alan Young, Eugene Young, and Jack Brown
The family will receive friends, Friday, July 31st at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, social distancing guidelines are to be followed at the visitation and funeral service.
