"Shorty" Walter Mcclellen Gravitt

August 24, 1941 — June 23, 2015

Mr. "Shorty" Walter McClellen Gravitt, 73 of Plainville, GA died Tuesday, June 23, 2015. He was born in Floyd County on August 24, 1941, son of the late Marcus and Ruby Stanley Gravitt.

Shorty was a business owner in the logging industry. He was an avid horseman and coon hunter.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Jenny Gravitt of Plainville; his daughters and son-in-law, Cristal Gravitt Ashley of Rome, and Velvet and Lennie Holbert of Dalton; a brother, James Gravitt of Plainville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian and Talmadge Greeson of Plainville, and Barbara and Charles Pratt of Calhoun; grandchildren, Lindsey Holbert, Luke Holbert, and Ryder Gravitt; and a special niece, Shawn Sutton; nephews, Brian Thomas, Keith Thomas, and the late Steve Thomas.

Services to honor the life of Mr. "Shorty" Walter McClellen Gravitt will be held Saturday, June 27th at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Clayton Stanley and Larry Garland officiating. Interment to follow in Scott's Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Brian Thomas, Brandon Gravitt, Derek Stanley, Bo Nicholson, Dewayne York, and Adam York. Honorary pallbearers serving include Keith Thomas, Tommy Gravitt, Bill Randolph, Kenneth Hilley, Tommy Payne, Benny Hall, Anthony Faulkenberry, and Zach Wilson.

The Gravitt family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, June 26th from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
