Sonny Maurice Dutton

Mr. Sonny Maurice Dutton, age 76 of the Sonoraville Community, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Gordon County on December 29, 1932, son of the late Jess and Arlean Gregory Dutton. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Dutton was also preceded in death by three brothers; Jack, Melvin, and Jimmy Dutton, and a sister, Esther Dutton.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mildred Landress Dutton; a daughter, Terresa Dutton of Calhoun; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Ted and Shirley Dutton of Calhoun, Donald and Alice Dutton of Cartersville, Johnny and Joy Dutton, and Buddy and Mary Dutton, all of the Sonoraville Community; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Mary Lee Landress; and a special aunt, Dixie Landress. A number of nieces, nephews, very special cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Sonny Dutton will be conducted Saturday, May 23 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will include Mr. Dutton's co-workers and friends with the Georgia Department of Transportation, and his many yard sale buddies. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
