Spencer Brown

Mr. Trammell "Spencer" Brown, 86, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, July 28, 2023 after a period of declining health.

Spencer was born in Gordon County, Georgia on June 26, 1937, the son of the late Ivus and Mildred Anderson Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Trammell Brown; his sister, Peggy Brown Duvall; and by his brother, Kenneth Brown. He was a member of the last graduating class of Sugar Valley School; was of the Christian faith and a Baptist; was a veteran of the United States Army, and prior to retirement, he was employed by World Carpets of Dalton and enjoyed farming and raising cattle.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Thomas Brown to whom he was married for 61 years; a daughter, Tammy S. Brown; son, Dennis Baker and his wife Sabrina; grandchildren, Kelvin (Joann) Brown, Sean Baker and Jeffrey Baker; great-granddaughter, Karazorel Brown; brother and sister-in-law, Larry Brown and his wife Kathy, several neices, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, July 30, 2023 at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Dwaine Shadix officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Kevin Holsomback, Kenneth Holsomback, James Langley, Wayne Bowen, Tracy Holsomback and Clay Brown. Honorary pallbearers include Jerry Holsomback, Ernest Cline and all the group who hang out at the store in Sugar Valley.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, July 29th between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM and on Sunday, July 30th from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
