Steve Douglas Cansler

December 18, 1964 — August 30, 2013

Mr. Steve Douglas Cansler, age 48 of Calhoun, died Friday, August 30, 2013 at his residence following several years of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on December 18, 1964 son of Sue Carver Cansler and the late Luther Cansler. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Tracey Cansler, and grandparents, Marvin and Mae Buttram.

Steve was an avid fisherman. He loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed working on cars.

He leaves behind his mother, Sue Carver Cansler of Calhoun; two brothers, Hank Cansler of Calhoun, and Brett Cansler of Morrow; four sisters, Connie (Dale) Hall, Sheila (Jimmy) Henson, and Lisa Young, all of Calhoun, and Phyllis (Wendell) Brackett of Resaca; special fishing buddies, Vernon McPherson and Andy Lambert; and a special cousin, Joan Weaver of Jasper. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Steve Douglas Cansler will be held Sunday, September 1st at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Lamar Patton and Rev. Alfred Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will include Derek Hall, Wendell Brackett, Chase Holloway, Vernon McPherson, Andy Lambert, and Allen McCoy.

The Cansler family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

The family would like to give special thanks to North Star Hospice for their outstanding care and to Dr. Garrett Post for his excellent medical care.
