Sue Carol Hayes Hite, age 61 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Floyd Medical Center following several years of declining health. She was born September 23, 1952, daughter of the late George and Carolyn Bowen Hayes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, George Kenneth Mauldin; an infant sister, Nancy Joyce Hayes; grandparents, Olen and Mamie Hayes of Calhoun, and Rev. Graham and Helen Bowen of Eastman; cousins, Russell Barnette and Dwyatte York; and a special uncle, Trammell (Chet) Stewart.
Mrs. Hite graduated from Calhoun High School in 1970. She continued to have a love for learning, and later in life received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in accounting. She was an active member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, and of their choir, the Gordon County Young Farmers, Gordon County FFA, and served as co-chair of Relay for Life. Her favorite pastimes were reading, singing, cross stitching, cooking, traveling, and making memories with her family.
She leaves behind her husband, Brinton M. (Mac) Hite; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Justin Montgomery of Spartanburg, SC; sons and daughters-in-law, Hank and Janna Mauldin, and Chet and Karla Hite; a sister and brother-in-law, Jerrie and Steve McDougle; and a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Laura Hayes, all of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Jacob Reeves, Aaron Bradford, Josh Montgomery, Hannah Mauldin, Laycee, Logan, and Lily Montgomery, Hannah Burtnett, and Brenlee Hite. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Betty Stewart, Marge Tolbert, Nan and Billy Barnette, Billy and Dovie Hayes, and Ed and Geraldine Horne.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Sue Hite will be held Wednesday, October 30th at 11:00 AM from Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev(s) Greg Burgner and Steve McDougle officiating. Music will be arranged by Donna Couch, Bert Jeffords, Melissa Brannon, and Charity Carney. The committal service will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Corey Hayes, Cody Hayes, Alan McDougle, Bill Carlson, Tony Pack, Daren McFarland, Matt Volek, and Stuart York. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie and Diane Kirby, Randy and Wanda Shaddix, and members of the Gordon County Young Farmers.
The Hite family will receive friends Tuesday, October 29th from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
