Mary Sue McDougle, 70, of Calhoun, died at Chulio Hills Health and Rehab on Friday, July 28, 2017 following several months of declining health. She was born in Floyd County on January 31, 1947; she was the daughter of the late James F. and Pauline Holmes Hight. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 32 years, Rayburn McDougle, in 2009. Sue had been a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, and was currently a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She worked in the carpet industry for many years, at Shaw Industries, and later retired from Carriage Carpets.
Sue is survived buy her sons and daughters-in-law, Tony Chamlee, Ricky Chamlee, Mike and Regina Chamlee, and Mark and Jammie Chamlee, all of Calhoun; her grandchildren, Jeremy Brake, Ashley Chamlee, Elijah Chamlee, Tricia Greene, Todd Vanhouten, and Katlyn Vanhouten; her great-grandchildren, Braylon Brake and Noah Brake; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Sammy and Jean Hight of Adairsville, and Danny and Carol Hight of Cartersville; her sister, Diane Rampley of Alabama.
The McDougle family will receive friends on Monday, July 31, 1017 from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mary Sue McDougle will be conducted on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Derek Craig will officiate. Pallbearers are Kirk Jackson, Chris Rainey, Willie Pritchett, Brent Holden, Todd Vanhouten, and Patrick Craig. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Dodd, Stephen Balliew, and John Dutton.
