Sue R. Blalock

Mrs. Sue R. Blalock, age 71 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Bartow County on September 27, 1938, daughter of the late Edge and Christine Spivey Sanders.

Mrs. Blalock was self-employed in the insurance business, and was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church of Red Bud. She was a longtime member of the American Business Women's Association.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Jerry L. Blalock of the home; three sons, David Reece, Steve Reece and his wife Nancy, all of Woodstock, and Russell Blalock and his wife Tasha of Macon; a daughter, Sharon Nix of Woodstock; a brother, Donald Sanders of Clarkesville; three sisters, Arlene Tate of Clackamas, Oregon, Nell Chapman of Clarkesville, and Barbara Butts of Bremen; and her mother-in-law, Gladys Blalock of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Christopher Reece, Madison V. Reece, Kelly Nix, Shawn Nix, Casey Nix, Jordan Blalock, Rachelle Wilson, Elijah Wilson and his wife Nadia; and a great-grandchild, Gabriel Wilson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sue R. Blalock will be conducted Sunday, August 1st at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Wesley Hunt officiating, and testimonial by Rev. Russell Blalock. Interment will follow in the Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Jimmy Langley, Benny Mealer, Jose Juarez, Nathan Roberts, Dr. Blake Derrick, and Andy Holbert, Jr. Pallbearer escort will be Elijah Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Reece, Jordan Blalock, Kelly Nix, Shawn Nix, Casey Nix, and Jacob Albrecht. Music will be performed by Debbie Durand and Rev. Wesley Hunt.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
