Mrs. Sybil Mathis Dutton age 80 of the Erwin Hill Community died Tuesday November 29th at her residence after one year of declining health. Mrs. Dutton was born in Gordon County on May 21, 1931 and was the daughter of the late John and Clara Owens Mathis. During her years of public work she was employed by the Gordon County Board of Education as a lunchroom worker. Mrs. Dutton was a member of Erwin Hill Church of God. She loved her husband Hansel and cherished her children and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Dutton is survived by her husband Hansel to whom she was married for 61 years. Three daughters; Patricia Dutton Bailey of Adairsville, Cindy Dutton Edwards and her husband Terry of Adairsville and Pam Dutton McEntyre and her husband Dale of Calhoun. Two sons; Sam Dutton and his wife Sharon of Wintersville, GA, and Troy Dutton and his wife Cynthia of Adairsville. One brother, Lee Mathis and his wife Ann of Calhoun. The grandchildren include; Chanda Padgett and her husband David; Jonathan McEntyre and his wife Sarah; Andrew McEntyre and his wife Jessica; Amanda Samples and her husband Sean; Maggie Dutton; Kari Wong and her husband Damiao; Greg Bailey; Caitlin Dutton and Lee Dutton. Great-Grandchildren, Elijah and Ezekiel Padgett; Jackson Howard; Claire McEntyre and Applyn McEntyre and a host of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sybil Mathis Dutton will be held Thursday December 1st at 3:00 PM from Erwin Hill Church of God with Rev. Ron Carver and Rev. Daron Henson officiating The body will be placed in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.. Interment will follow in the Erwin Hill Church of God Cemetery. Music will be arranged by Greg Bailey and Justin Edwards. Pallbearers serving will include Ray Tierce, Rodney Mathis, Roger Mathis, Danny Watson, Mark Watson and Jason Mauldin. Honorary pallbearers serving include Jonathan McEntyre, Zachary Edwards, Andrew McEntyre, Greg Bailey, Lee Dutton, Justin Edwards, David Padgett, Sean Samples and Damiao Wong.
The Dutton family will receive friends Wednesday between the hours of 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mrs. Dutton's memory to the Sanctuary Lighting Fund of Erwin Hill Church of God.
