Sybil Price

Mrs. Sybil Price, age 89 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2008. She was born in Gordon County on September 8, 1918, daughter of the late Roy and Rosa B. Greene. She spent her entire life in Ranger and Calhoun and attended Fairmount High School. She had been a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Ranger since the age of nine. Mrs. Price was married to the late Howard Price for 59 years before his death in 1993.

Before retirement, she was employed by Dixie Bell Mills, Pate's Cloth Shop, and Pate's Five and Dime Store. She was later employed as a bookkeeper for Price Floor Covering for 14 years.

Mrs. Price was preceded in death by three sisters, Sara Beth Greene, Eva Mae Overton and Tressie Holmes.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Charles Tyner of Calhoun; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Brenda Price of Jasper; grandchildren, Twylah Tippett, John Price, Jesse Price, Scotty Moss and Kevin Moss; eleven great grand children; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary Jean Greene; brother-in-law, E. Vance Holmes, and sister-in-law, Margaret Gravitt. Several nieces and nephews, and three special friends; Joyce Swanson Cronan, Ruth McAfee Cox, and Cheryl Smith Jones also survive.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Sybil Price will be conducted on Monday, February 25 at 3:30 pm, from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenny Rogers and William Daniel officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Bill McAfee, Jim Chastain, Dale Bennett, Bill Price, Alan Price and Jerry Price. Honorary pallbearers are J.W. Shope, Alan Holmes, Michael Holmes, Boyd Swanson, David Greene and Neal Greene. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday after 5:00 pm.
