Mrs. Tammy Kay McGaha Dowd, age 48 of Plainville, GA passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in LaFayette, GA on September 16, 1963, daughter of the late Russell McGaha and Frances McGaha Thompson.

Before becoming disabled, Tammy was employed with Huddle House as Manager in Calhoun and LaFayette, and was also employed with JRC Trucking.

Survivors include her husband of 12 years, Phillip Dowd of the residence; two sons, James Phillip "J.P." Dowd, Jr. of Plainville, and Michael Gilliland of LaFayette; her mother, Frances "Jeanie" McGaha Thompson and her husband "Dub" of Chickamauga, GA; two sisters, Cathy McGaha Hixon and her husband Fred, and Pennie McGaha Callahan, all of LaFayette; and two grandchildren, Madison Gilliland and Mason Gilliland.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Tammy Kay McGaha Dowd will be held Sunday, May 20th at 3:00pm from the Plainville Church of God of Prophecy, with Rev. Jerry Gaddis and Rev. Terry Burns officiating. Interment will follow in the Scott Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include David Defreese, Michael Gilliland, Rusty Cooper, Mikey Bridewell, J.P. Dowd, Jonathan Waller, and Kevin Crane. These gentlemen are requested to assemble at the funeral home Sunday at 2:00pm.

The Dowd family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
