Terry Eugene Whittle

Mr. Terry Eugene Whittle, age 70 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 at Gordon Hospital following an extended illness.

Mr. Whittle was born on April 20, 1940 in Kennesaw, son of the late John Hood Whittle and Dorothy Sue Jarrett Whittle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Marion Richard Whittle and Billy Ray Whittle. He was a retired painting contractor, a member of Sugar Valley Baptist Church, and a member of Samuel S. Lawrence Lodge # 721 of Marietta.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Jane Wheat Whittle to whom he was married for fifty years; two sons, Terry E. Whittle, Jr. and Danny L. Whittle both of Calhoun; two sisters, Johnnie McKibben and her husband Jenks of Toccoa, and Brenda Wysong and her husband Charlie of Chattanooga; four brothers, Frank Whittle of Martin, Georgia, Lamar Whittle and his wife Alice of Covington, Jackie Whittle of Canton, and Mike Whittle and his wife Vickie of Acworth; two grandchildren, Jessica Whittle and Jeremy Whittle; and an aunt and uncle, Jo and Tommy Hammer. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Terry Eugene Whittle will be conducted Monday at 11:00am from the Sugar Valley Baptist Church, with Rev. Mitch Phillips and Rev. Jack Baskin officiating. Active pallbearers serving will include Butch McKibben, Jason Whittle, Shane Whittle, Samuel Wysong, Mathew Wysong, Seth Wysong, Kenneth Wheat and Steve Wheat. Honorary escort will include the Young at Heart Sunday School Class of the Sugar Valley Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service in the Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Charles Wysong officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by the Sugar Valley Lodge . The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
