Obituary

Thomas Andrew "Tom" Sutton Sr., known to his family as "Grandpa", died on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Redmond Regional Medical Center, following several months of declining health. Tom was born Gordon County on June 13, 1930; he was the son of the late Vernon and Gordia Sutton. Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Sutton, known as "Grandma", in 2013. Prior to his retirement, Tom was a mechanic with General Motors. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix just about anything.
Tom is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Tom Jr. and Lynn Sutton, and Lee Sutton; his brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Laura Sutton; his sisters, Betty Harrison, Mary Dutton, and Bobbie Adcock; his grandchildren, Tom, Lalena, Deela, Johnny, Joshua, Frances, Victoria, Dale, Joseph, and Kyle; twenty-four great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; several nieces and nephews.
The Sutton family will receive friends on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Tim McCulley will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Tilley Baptist Church Cemetery in Blue Ridge.
