Mr. Tommy Kay, age 80, of the Concord Community, Fairmount, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2008 at Gordon Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Gordon County on June 19, 1928, son of the late Charlie and Rosie Silvers Kay. Mr. Kay was retired from the textile industry, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mettie Kelley Kay on September 4, 2008.
Survivors include a nephew, John Addy and his wife Faye of the Concord Community; a sister-in-law, Mittie Kelley; a niece, Susie Grizzle, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Tommy Kay will be conducted Tuesday, November 18 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Freeman Hamrick officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church Cemetery. Music will be arranged by Tara Smith, Wesley Grizzle, and Lisa and Drew Kirby. Active pallbearers will include Darrell Grizzle, Wesley Grizzle, Mike Farmer, Elbert Jackson, and Michael Johnson. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday after 5:00pm.
