Tommy L. Tate

Mr. Tommy Tate, age 69 of Sugar Valley, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Gordon County on December 29, 1940, son of the late Walter and Beatrice Silvers Tate. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Dodge Tate, and a brother-in-law, Max West.

Survivors include two sons, David Tate and Danny Tate, both of Sugar Valley; three daughters, Kay Scarbrough of Plainville, Michelle Harmon and her husband Tim of Calhoun, and Kim Gravitt and her husband Steve of Plainville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilburn and Frances Tate of Sugar Valley, and Donnie and Laverne Tate of Murray County; two sisters, Margie West of Sugar Valley, and Martha Talley and her husband Vernon of Calhoun; and grandchildren, Kesha Scarbrough, Corey Wade, Tyler Gravitt, Amber Kay, and Austin Kay. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside memorial services will be conducted Sunday, May 16th at 2:00pm from the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery, with Corey Wade officiating.
