Tommy Stanley

Mr. Claude Thomas (Tommy) Stanley, Sr., age 68 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at his residence following four months of illness.

Mr. Stanley was born on June 11, 1942 in Gordon County, son of Sarah Willie Smith Stanley and the late Matthew Ralph Stanley. During his lifetime he served his country with the United Sates Army, and retired from the Grounds and Maintenance Department of the Gordon County Board of Commissioners following 19 years of service. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in the Sonoraville Community.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Pate Stanley, to whom he was married for 45 years; two sons, Claude Thomas Stanley, Jr. and his wife Lynda, and Ralph Atnas Stanley and his wife Pam; his mother, Mrs. Willie Stanley; a sister, Sherri Hill and her husband Gary; and a brother, Larry Stanley and his wife Sandy, all of Calhoun. Three grandchildren, Nena, Kaitlyn, and Bradley Stanley, and nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Claude Thomas (Tommy) Stanley, Sr. will be conducted Friday at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Active pallbearers serving will include Jerry Baldwin, C.J. Dodd, Chad Mathis, Jeff Champion, Phillip Weaver and Glenn Stanley. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Weaver, Chance Stanley, Kevin Weaver and Bill Johnson. Interment will follow the service in Gordon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday between the hours of 4:00pm until 9:00pm.
