Tommy Thomas

Mr. Tommy Thomas, age 80 of Rydal, GA, passed away Monday, September 26, 2011 at Cartersville Medical Center following several days of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on January 31, 1931, son of the late Thomas and Dora Wright Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Fite Thomas in 2001; brothers, Max, Leonard, L.A., and Herbert Thomas; sisters, Edna Davis, Elizabeth Pack, Avylene Stewart, Nannie Lee Black, Esta Mae Hester, and Florine Hall; and two infant brothers.

Mr. Thomas was a veteran of the US Army, serving his country during the Korean War. He was retired from Lockheed Corporation, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Carolyn Thomas of Rydal; a daughter and son-in-law, Gale and Autry Dean of Ellijay; grandchildren, Genger Dean, Jessica Waters, Robert Dean, Naomi Thomas, and Belle Thomas; and a great-grandchild, Bristol Waters.

Funeral services for Mr. Tommy Thomas will be conducted Thursday, September 29 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Rex Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery in Pickens County.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday after 2:00pm.
