Mr. John Thomas "Tommy" Wilkey, age 56 of Plainville, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Redmond Hospital. He was born in Gordon County on October 23, 1954, son of the late Frances Jack Wilkey and the late Mammie Jo McEntire Bowman.
Tommy loved to laugh. He enjoyed being outdoors with the animals, fishing, and attending car shows. He was self-employed as owner/operator of Wilkey Construction, and was a member of the Plainville Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Debbie Ann Reid Wilkey; two daughters and sons-in-law, LeAnn and Randall Payne, and Elisha and Alex Reynolds, all of Plainville; three brothers, Bobby McEntire and his wife Ann of Calhoun, Billy Joe Wilkey of Plainville, and Anthony Wilkey and his wife Diane of Plainville; two grandchildren, Taylor Payne and Chelsea Payne; and step-father, Ralph Bowman. Nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and a very special friend, Dempsey Wright also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. John Thomas "Tommy" Wilkey will be held Tuesday, October 4th at 2:00pm from the Plainville Church of God of Prophecy, with Rev. Greg Cowart and Pastor Jerry Gaddis officiating. Interment will follow in Scott Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Will McEntyre, Russell Davis, Stuart Worley, Elbert Jackson, Robbie Towe, and Chad Cox. These gentlemen are requested to assemble at the funeral home Tuesday at 1:00pm.
The Wilkey family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
