Trammell Edward Roach

Mr. Trammell Edward Roach, age 81 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 following several months of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on November 17, 1932, son of the late Paul and Mabel Lipscomb Roach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise McClung Roach in 2003; and a son, Rex Roach in 2004.

Papa Roach worked 44 years on the L&N, then the CSX railroad. He was a hog farmer and cattle farmer in retirement years. He was of the Baptist faith.

He leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Billy Smith of Calhoun; a daughter-in-law, Joan F. Roach of Calhoun; grandchildren, Michael Rex Roach and his wife Kelly, Ricky E. Smith and his wife Nicoli, and Bryan R. Smith and his wife Christina; and great-grandchildren, Marley Raye Roach, Ramsey Smith, Ryder Smith, and Rance Smith. Other survivors include special friends Rita Hall and Sue Cansler, and Peanut, his dog.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Trammell Edward Roach will be held Thursday, June 26th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. Brent Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers include Dayton Brent Holden, Jim McMahan, Ted Fuller, Doug Chambers, Wesley Owens, and Billy Jackson. Honorary pallbearers are Ryder Smith, Rance Smith, Wayne Sherman, retired friends of the railroad, the Hollywood Hollow Community, Life Choice Hospice staff members, Bill Kilgore, and Jimmy and Dusty Henson.

The Roach family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
