Mr. Travis "Bulldog" Hales, age 78 of Resaca, GA died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Gordon Country on April 8, 1935, son of the late Joseph Andrew Hales and the late Laura Rebecca Gravely Hales. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Stanfield Hales, to whom he was married for 56 years; and a sister, Janell Wyatt.
Survivors include a son, Donald Hales of Resaca; two brothers, Hoyt Hales and Otrell Hales, both of Ellijay; a sister, Agnes Head of Whitfield County; grandchildren, Josh and Scarlett Hales of Resaca, Tracy Hales of Atlanta, and Brandon and Marla Taylor of Chatsworth; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Chase Barnhart, Joshua, Jaycee, and Justin Hales, and Azik, Emily, and Brandie Taylor.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Travis "Bulldog" Hales will be held Wednesday, January 22nd at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Ernest Channell officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include David Lott, Bernie Lott, Keith Head, Jeffery Hales, Mike Williams, and Bobby Banks. Norman Hollingsworth will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The Hales family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
