Trent Thomason, 49, of the Red Bud Community, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Emory University hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Trent was born in Gordon County on May 19, 1968. Trent was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floy and Raymond Fuquea, and Hudon and Pauline Thomason. He attended Red Bud Schools, and graduated with honors as a proud Cardinal in the class of 1986. Trent was a standout athlete. He excelled in basketball, football, and baseball. From his freshman year through his senior year, he was selected by the Rome News Tribune as one of the top ten basketball players in the region. Trent received his bachelors degree from West Georgia College where he was a member of the football team. Trent also became a fan of the Calhoun Yellow Jackets where his son, Rob, goes to school. He attended all of Robs practices and his games. Along with his family, Trent operated Thomason Egg Farms. He was part of the family egg business for more than 31 years. Trent was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Falcons. He loved his family and many friends very deeply; he enjoyed the times when they visited at his home. He was a longtime member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Trent was part of a very close and loving family. Those who survive him include his wife, Jessica Thomason; his son, Rob; his parents, Larry and Janet Thomason; his brother and sister-in-law, Heath and Lori Thomason; his nieces and nephews, Olivia, Hagen, Gabe, Lexi, Addysen, and Asher; his in-laws, Debbie and Bob Butler and Johnny and Joan Goble; sisters-in-law, Jamie Bramblett and her husband, Chad, and Carson Butler; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Trents family will receive friends on Friday and Saturday night from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from Trinity Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the family plot at Pine Chapel Cemetery. Dr. Bob Butler and Rev. Greg Burgner will officiate, and Rev. David McDonald will officiate at the grave site. Pallbearers are Scott Smith, Greg Abernathy, Chad Bramblett, Johnny Bruce, Wayne Fuller, Barry Walraven, Scott Jones, and Russ Roberts.
The family has established a Trent Thomason Memorial Agricultural Scholarship that will be awarded yearly to an agriculture student from each of our local high schools. They suggest that memorials be made to this fund c/o North Georgia National Bank.
