Van Buren Greeson Jr

Mr. Van Buren Greeson, Jr., age 80 of Calhoun passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Gordon Hospital following several years of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on April 8, 1931, son of the late Van Buren Sr. and Lois Beason Greeson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Dimple Roberts, a brother-in-law, Alfred Roberts, and a daughter, Sherry Harrell.

Mr. Greeson was a retired electrician with Horizon Industries. At the time of his death he had been attending Calhoun Full Gospel Fellowship.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Greeson of Ranger, and Vick Greeson of Rome; a special ex- daughter-in-law, Diane Rickman; several grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

Mr. Greeson is also survived by an ex-wife, Frances Craig, with whom he maintained a special friendship. This friendship allowed him to be blessed with a second family. From this family he is preceded in death by Ms. Craig's grandson, Caleb Craig. Survivors are Ms. Craig's two sons, Freddie Craig and his wife Margaret, and Junior Craig and his wife Deborah; Four grandchildren, Chris Craig and Kellie, Connie Pass and Nevin, Charity Carney and Shane, and Brian Craig and Mindy; and six great-grandchildren, Shane, Brooke and Brice Craig, Aaron Pass, Brady Carney, and Ella Craig. Mr. Greeson will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral services for Mr. Van Buren Greeson, Jr. will be held Tuesday, August 30th at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Bro. Junior Craig and Bro. Freddie Craig officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park, with Bro. Hershel Pierce conducting the committal service. Active pallbearers will include Nevin Pass, Chris Craig, Roy Pierce, Larry Higdon, Charlie Langston, and Freddie Craig. Honorary pallbearers are Sam Brookshire, Daneward Sutherland, Danny Parker, Aaron Pass, Michael Kirby, and Eugene Burnett.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
