Van Buren Pate Jr

Mr. Van Buren Pate, Jr., age 62 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on June 23, 1951, son of Althea Flowers Pate and the late Van Buren Pate, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bossie Walraven.

He leaves behind his mother, Althea Flowers Pate of the residence; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Freddie and Marcelle Pate, and Jimmy and Barbara Pate, all of Calhoun; two sisters, Judy Walraven of Calhoun, and Michelle Pate of Chattanooga; and an aunt, Willie Mae Babet of Roswell. Nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Thurman Pate; and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Van Buren Pate, Jr. will be held Sunday, March 23rd at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Marvin Brock and Rev. J.E. Glass officiating. Interment will follow in Fidell Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Wes Brown, Marty Brown, Zachary Pate, Thurman Pate, Larry Yeager, and Kenneth Charvat.

The Pate family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
