Verlon Silvers

Mr. Verlon (Junior) Silvers, age 71 of Talking Rock passed away Friday, November 29, 2013 at his residence following several months of declining health.

He was born on October 31, 1942 in Gordon County, son of the late Joe and Mamie Silvers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Felton Silvers and his wife Agnes, and Gordon Silvers; sisters, Cloismae Pack and her husband Herman; and brothers-in-law, Ernest Mulkey and Herman Pack. Prior to his retirement he was employed as an equipment operator for M&M Construction in Jasper.

Mr. Silvers is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Pack Silvers; four daughters, Betty Reece and her husband Mike of Talking Rock, Paula Belk and her husband Ben, and Christina Dowdy and Charity Clemente, both of Calhoun; two sons, Bobby Silvers and his wife Rhonda, and Edward Silvers and his wife Renee, all of Calhoun; sisters, Lois Mulkey, and Annis Mulkey and her husband Ed, all of Ranger; and a brother, Elmer Silvers and his wife Delamae of Ranger. Grandchildren surviving are Randall Wilkins, Brooke Reece, Jonathon Hembree, Jessica Silvers, April Silvers, Ashley Silvers, Autumn Silvers, Amber Silvers, Brianna Silvers, Brittany Belk, Brandon Dowdy, Bryson Dowdy and Faith Dowdy; and great-grandchildren, Kris, Juieson, Ally, McKenzie, Brooke, Lynn, Gabriel, Carson and Layne. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Verlon (Junior) Silvers will be conducted Monday, December 2, 2013 at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Brother Kenneth Freeman and Bro. David Nix officiating. Music will be arranged by Reggie Hendrix and the Gift of Life Singers. Pallbearers serving will be Donnie Nickelson, Larry Mulkey, Chris Pack, Rembert Pack, David Pack and Randy Silvers. Burial will follow the service at the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Ranger.

The Silvers family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
