Vernon Frank Leatherwood

Mr. Vernon Frank Leatherwood, age 67 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, April 03, 2014 at Redmond Region Medical Center. He was born in Calhoun on September 18, 1946, son of the late Vernie Leatherwood and the late Margaret Leona Long Leatherwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Doc Leatherwood and a sister, Rena Leatherwood Starkey.

Mr. Leatherwood was a lifelong resident of Gordon County and prior to his declining health was employed by Horizon Industries as a Hyster Driver.

He leaves behind four brothers, Ronald Leatherwood of Calhoun, Donald Leatherwood of Calhoun, Nick Leatherwood and his wife Kay of Calhoun, and Michael Leatherwood of Calhoun; three aunts, Lillie Mae Tate of Ranger, Johnnie Long of Sugar Valley, and Eula Long of Sugar Valley; a special cousin Laura Sue Gatrel; and a special niece Susan Burns. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Vernon Frank Leatherwood will be held Sunday, April 6th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow the service at Brackett Ridges Cemetery in Murray County. Active pallbearers will include Tanner Harmon, Bryson Pendley, Joseph Leatherwood, Dwayne Smith, David Leatherwood, and Jeff Leatherwood.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 5th at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
