Mrs. Villa Mae Waters, age 66 of Crandall, GA, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009. She was born in Gordon County on August 20, 1943, daughter of the late John and Inez Turner Hughes. During her lifetime, Mrs. Waters was employed in the textile industry with Daltex.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Waters; two daughters, Barbara Waters and Carol Phillips; and four sisters, Dorothy Belle Gravitt, JoAnn Hughes, Betty Sue Hughes, and Cathy Holmes.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris Waters and Bernadine Holmes, both of Tunnel Hill; six brothers, Johnny Hughes and his wife Edna, Will Hughes and his wife Martha, James Hughes and his wife Jo, Raymond Hughes and his wife Wanda, Ronnie Hughes, and Robby Hughes; and six sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola and Billy Trammel, Mary and Tommy Holcomb, Patsy and Bobby Ashe, Darlene and Leonard Grizzell, Nancy and George Brewer, and Tammy and Terry Jones. Five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and special nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Villa Mae Waters will be conducted Sunday, October 11 at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Maynard Thomas and Rev. Donnie Trammell officiating. Interment will follow in the Corinth Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday after 2:00pm.
