Mr. Vincent Evans, age 88 of Calhoun, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Calhoun Health Care Center following a brief illness. Mr. Evans was born on January 18, 1923 in Bartow County, Georgia, son of the late Vince Evans, Sr. and Martha Clyde Chitwood Evans. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Suggs Evans; a son, Danny Allen Evans; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Young Evans; a granddaughter, Christy Leigh Evans; brothers, James Evans, Miller Evans, Raymond Evans, Will Henry Evans, Arthur Garfield Evans and Lewis Evans; and sisters, Evelyn Gray and Annie Maude Nix.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, and had been employed by Brown's Laundry as superintendent of the Dyeing Department. He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.
Mr. Evans is survived by a daughter, Cathy Harrison and her husband Lamar of Calhoun; a son, Henry Huston Evans and his wife Paula of Calhoun; and a sister, Margaret Rice of Acworth. Eight grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Vincent Evans will be conducted Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with grandson Ty Evans officiating.
The Evans family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
Pallbearers serving will include Robert B. Powers, II, Seth Evans, Sam Box, John Mims Harrison, B.H. Williams, Charles Poarch, Monte Erwin and Coleman Powers. Interment will follow the service in the Fain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Evans' memory to the Belmont Baptist Church Building Fund.
