Virginia Callaway

Mrs. Virginia Callaway, age 79 of Resaca, GA died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at her residence. She was born in LaFayette, GA on July 9, 1933, daughter of the late Lonnie and Emma Smith Adams. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Callaway; two brothers, Matt Cochran and Glen Adams; and two sisters, Sadie Smith and Lola Abercrombie.

Mrs. Callaway had been employed with Shaw Industries prior to retirement. She was a member of Ray's Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, P.R. Callaway, to whom she was married on June 23, 1952; three sons, Ricky Callaway, Gene Callaway, and Randy Callaway and his wife April, all of Dalton; a daughter, Martha Stinson and her husband Robert of Dalton; a brother, Vernon Adams of Cobb County, GA; and three sisters, Inez Pierce of Cherokee County, GA, Betty Ann of Bartow County, GA, and Ruby Dean of Murray County, GA. Grandchildren surviving are Wesley Stinson, Lee Callaway, and Cody Callaway; step-grandchildren, Kristin Forester and Aaron Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Ian Stinson, Braden Callaway, and Cole Callaway. Other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Callaway will be held Saturday, July 21st at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Sugar Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers.

The Callaway family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
