Virginia G. Amos

Mrs. Virginia G. Amos, age 79 of Calhoun, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 after a long illness.

Mrs. Amos was born August 31, 1931 to Mr. and Mrs. William E. Gillespie. She was married to Roy Amos, who preceded her in death in 1980. She was a career employee of Calhoun First National Bank, retiring in 1991.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Frank Gillespie, and D.A. Gillespie; and her sisters, Christine Roach, Janelle Whittemore, and Barbara Howell.

Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Amos of Calhoun; a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Jim McFadden; and a grandson, Will McFadden, all of Calhoun; a sister, Wilene Whittemore of Roswell, GA; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gillespie of Calhoun, and Wylene Gillespie of Rosedale; a brother-in-law, Paul Whittemore of Calhoun; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia G. Amos will be conducted Friday, March 25th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Waddell officiating. Interment will follow in the Oostanaula Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 1:00pm until the funeral hour of 2:00pm.
