Virginia Keller

Mrs. Virginia Smith Rogers Keller, age 81 of the Union Grove Community, passed away suddenly at Gordon Hospital on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. She was born in Gordon County on November 28, 1929. In addition to her parents, Mr. Hugh Smith and Mrs. Nellie Ellen McDougle, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Smith and four sisters, Bernice Pasley, Alene Moore, Betty Carver, and Lois Conway.

Mrs. Keller was a homemaker and a member of the Union Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Survivors include a husband, Andy Keller of Calhoun; two sons, Roy Parker and his wife Susan of Calhoun, and Ricky Parker and his wife Teresa of Calhoun; a daughter, Judi Collins and her husband Jerry of Calhoun; a stepdaughter, LeAnne Mereer of Jasper; a brother, Robert Smith and his wife Martha of the Union Grove Community; and four sisters, Sarah Joy Hnat of Calhoun, Georgia Meadows and her husband Varner of Calhoun, Willie Paul Smith of Norfolk, VA, and Rosa Mae Smith of Calhoun. Thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Smith Rogers Keller will be held Friday, May 13th at 2:00pm from the Union Grove Baptist Church, with the body to be placed in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Drew Parker, Marty Ayer, Phil Ayer, Michael Boyd, and Josh Collins. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Goodwin, Jake Parker, Tyler Ayer, Jacob Ayer, and Michael Collins.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
