V.R. Dutton

Mr. V.R. (Frosty) Dutton, age 86 of Calhoun, Georgia; died Saturday, June 01, 2013 at his residence following six weeks of illness.

Mr. Dutton was born on July 8, 1926 in Gordon County; son of the late Hoyt and Bertha Kay Dutton. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a sister; Barbara Evans and a brother, J.D. Dutton. During his lifetime; Mr. Dutton served his country with the Georgia National Guard; the United States Navy and the United States Marin Corp. Reserve where he had been awarded the American Area Camp Medal; Asiatic-Pacific Camp Medal (1 star); the Phillipine Liberation Ribbon; Point System and the Victory Medal. He was a farmer and retired employee of Lockheed-Martin Corporation of Marietta, Georgia. Mr. Dutton was a member of Erwin Hill Church of God where he had served in many positions in the church.

Survivors are his wife, Marguerite Lanham Dutton to whom he was married for 65 years. Three sons; Jerry Dutton and his wife, Carolyn of Calhoun, Georgia; Rev. Jeff Dutton and his wife, Renee of Adairsville, Georgia; Joel Dutton and his wife Misty of Calhoun, Georgia. Two sisters; Betty Jones and her husband, Amos; and Virginia Stone all of Calhoun, Georgia. One brother; Waymon (Doc) Dutton and his wife, Betty of the Scottsville Community. Six grandchildren; Melissa Self, Jeremy Dutton, Jenifer Dutton, Brooke Dutton, Todd Dutton and Taylor Dutton. Five great grandchildren; Megan Frank, Morgan Frank, Marissa Self, Spenser Poarch and Anabelle Poarch. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. V.R. (Frosty) Dutton will be conducted Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Victory Temple Church of God with Rev. Jeff Dutton and Rev. James Shope officiating. Singing will be arranged by Elaine Bearden. Active pallbearers serving will include; Barron Bearden, Tom Allen, Ronnie Harris, Brian Sosebee, Dewayne Gilbert and Tim Shaw. Honorary escort will be the members of the Adult Sunday School Class of Victory Temple Church of God. Acitve pallbearers and the honorary escort are requested to meet at the church on Tuesday at 1:30 pm

Internment will follow the service at the Erwin Hill Church of God Cemetery with full military honors being accorded by the United States Navy.

Mr. Dutton will lie in state at the Victory Temple Church of God on Monday evening where the family will begin receiving friends at 4:00 pm
