Mr. William Floyd Silvers, age 68 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 following a year of declining health.
Mr. Silvers was born on June 25, 1941 in Gordon County, son of the late Floyd and Geneva Parker Silvers. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Young; two sisters, Dorothy Higdon and Shirley Hall; a brother-in-law, Terry Miller; and a niece, Angie Smallwood. During his lifetime he was employed in the pulpwood and textile industries.
Survivors are two daughters, Karen Loudermilk and her husband Carl of Resaca; Lisa Gentry and her husband Jason of Ranger; two sons, Lamar Silvers and Greg Silvers, both of Calhoun; three sisters, Dymple Brown of Murfreesboro, TN, Patsy Suggs and her husband Alvin, Charlotte Miller and her husband Randall, both of Calhoun; a brother, and Ray Silvers and his wife Electa of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving include Jesi Barrett, Austin Silvers, Harley Silvers, Ashley Young, Andrew Young, and Sierra and Shelby Gentry; step-grandchildren, Daphene Coggins and Justin Loudermilk; and great-grandchildren, Skylar Holland and Kaelyn Barrett. The children's mother, Juanita Silvers; Melvin Hall, spouse of the deceased sister Shirley Hall, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. William Floyd Silvers will be conducted Saturday at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Ed Pasley officiating. Singing will be arranged by Betty Fain, Betty Pack, Ora Mae Fain and Mary Ruth Burchette. Active pallbearers serving will include Carl Loudermilk, Jason Gentry, Andrew Young, Austin Silvers, Justin Loudermilk and Joel Hall. Honorary pallbearers serving will include Larry Higdon, Tony Higdon, Timmy Silvers, Michael Silvers, Brian Silvers, Darrien Suggs, Barry Suggs, Shane Greeson, Steven Greeson and Anthony Bohannon. Interment will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
