Mr. William (Bill) Mitchell Jr., age 75 of Tate Bend Road, Calhoun, formerly of Cumming, Georgia died Friday, May 20, 2011 at his residence after several months of declining health. He was born in Atlanta on February 24, 1936, son of the late Wesley A. Mitchell and Cora P. Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell enjoyed spending time with his family and working on his farm. He owned and operated Mitchell Cattle and Hay and had retired from the US Postal Service after 37 years of employment.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Bates Mitchell, to whom he was married for 57 years; a daughter, Amanda Mitchell Childers and her husband Russell of Flowery Branch; and a son, Wes Mitchell and his wife Darlene of Calhoun; two grandchildren, Wesley and Brooke Mitchell, both of Calhoun; a sister, Marguerete Brooks of Tucker; a niece, Patti B. Shiver; and a sister-in-law, Dell Smith.
Funeral services for Mr. William (Bill) Mitchell will be held Monday, May 23rd at 3:00 PM from Trinity Baptist Church, with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Rev. Mitchell Shiver officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Rev. Hugh Hagen conducting the committal service. Pallbearers serving will include Milton Shiver, Jim Ellis, Tim Holtzclaw, Ed Couch and Tony Petty.
The Mitchell family will receive friends Saturday between the hours of 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM, and Sunday between the hours of 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
