William Mitchell Bowman

Mr. William Mitchell Bowman, age 93 of Resaca, passed away Friday morning, August 8, 2008 at his residence, following a year of declining health.

Mr. Bowman was born on January 27, 1915 in Rockmart, son of the late William Mitchell Bowman and Willie Jean Bowman. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, having served from 1933 until 1939. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Belle Morgan Bowman, to whom he had been married for 59 years.

Mr. Bowman is survived by six daughters; Gail M. Holcomb of Resaca, Martha Jean Bivens of Cleveland, Tennessee, Brenda J. McAllister of Rockmart, Mary Ann Coffia of Trion, and Linda G. Welch and Tammy G. Baker, both of Resaca; three sons, Donnie K. Bowman of Calhoun, and Danny M. Bowman and Dewayne L. Bowman, both of Resaca;. four brothers, Arthur Bowman of Nashville, Tennessee, George Bowman of Summerville, Tennessee, J.C. Bowman of Cedartown, and Jimmy Bowman of Villanow.. Forty-three grandchildren, forty-eight great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. William Mitchell Bowman will be conducted Sunday, August 10 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Greg Wynn and Rev. Reece McAllister officiating. Active pallbearers serving will include Bruce Bowman, Karl Bowman, Danny Bowman, Barry Bowman, Daryl Bowman and John L. Williams. Honorary pallbearers serving will include Eddie Benson, James (Bubba) Benson, T.J. Bass, and John F. Williams. Interment will follow the service in the family lot of Aragon Cemetery in Aragon, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
