William Thomas Stapp Jr

Mr. William Thomas "Tommy" Stapp, Jr., age 63 of Calhoun, died Friday, April 15, 2011 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Madison County, GA on March 5, 1948, son of the late William Thomas Stapp, Sr. and the late Ellen Turner Stapp. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Melvin Cravey; a brother-in-law, Charles Rhodes; a sister-in-law, Brenda Gail Stewart; a brother-in-law, Billy Ray Stewart; and his father-in-law, Billy Sunday Stewart.

Mr. Stapp was a veteran, serving his country in the US Navy. He had been employed for 18 years by Ed Voyles Hyundai in Marietta, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Betty Stewart Stapp; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Tammy Stapp of Huntersville, NC; a sister, Linda Rhodes of Moultrie, GA; his mother-in-law, Mildred Stewart; nieces, Michelle Carter and her husband Jimmy of Calhoun, Cristy Long of Calhoun, Cristina Stapp, Jennifer Stapp, Rachel Rhodes, and Becky Rhodes; great-nephews, Dale Carter, Hunter Long, Gordon Long, and Kevin Johns; a great-niece, Nichole Carter; two great-great nephews; and a great-great niece. A host of friends and co-workers also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. William Thomas "Tommy" Stapp, Jr. will be held Monday, April 18th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery with military honors. Active pallbearers include Cecil Carter, Jimmy Carter, Dale Carter, Stanley Moore, Todd Moore, Heath Moore, Mark Long, and Kevin Johns. Charlie Stanley will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
