Wilma Goodnight Evans

Mrs. Wilma Goodnight Evans, age 92 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Gordon Health Care, following several years of declining health. She was born in Gordon County on February 16, 1922, daughter of the late Benjamin and Eura Thomas Goodnight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Duane Evans, Doyle Ray Evans, and Winston Davis Evans; a daughter, Pamela Evans Weaver; a brother, Harold Partion; and a sister, Bonnie Hufstetler. She was a life-long resident of Gordon County.

Survivors include a son, Dwight Evans of Calhoun; three daughters, Marilyn Callaway of Calhoun, Sandra Towers of Calhoun, and Shirley Evans Hamrick of Dalton; and a brother, Kenneth Partion of Calhoun. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Wilma Goodnight Evans will be held Saturday, January 10th at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Jimmy Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Cooper Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Shawn Sapp, Bryan Sapp, Shane Sapp, Timothy Evans, Scotty Evans, and David Calloway.

The Evans family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
