Mrs. Wilma Wilbanks, age 79 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Piedmont, Alabama on April 9, 1931, daughter of the late Roy and Minnie Braggs Rochester. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Wilbanks, to whom she was married for 45 years; and five brothers, Kenneth, Harlan, Larry, Carthell, and Nathanial Rochester.
Mrs. Wilbanks was retired as a self-employed caterer, and was a member of the Sugar Valley Church of God.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Kim Wilbanks of Macclenny, Florida, Michael and Leslie Wilbanks and Greg and Christie Wilbanks all of Sugar Valley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Krista and Jim Stover of Rome, and Julie and Josh Raines, of Calhoun; a brother, Curtis Rochester of Shannon; and a sister, Faye Burch of Shannon. Fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Wilbanks will be conducted Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 2:30 pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Randy Giles, Pastor Jeremy Hanraham and Pastor Charles Izell officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Valley Church of God Cemetery, with Rev. Brent Davis conducting the committal service. Active pallbearers will include Terry Wilbanks, Dustin Wilbanks, Timothy Stover, Spencer Wilbanks, Terry Rochester and Eddie Tarrant. Honorary pallbearers are Randall Burch, Mike Rochester, Garrett Wilbanks, Hunter Wilbanks, Jacob Raines, Joey Raines, Randy Wilbanks and Paul Jones.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
