Winston David Evans

Sgt. Winston David Evans, age 67 of Resaca, passed away Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 at Murray County Hospital.

He was born on April 10th, 1942 in Gordon County, son of Wilma Goodnight Evans and the late Asa David Evans. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Langley Evans, a daughter, Sabrina Nation, and a son, David Evans. Sgt. Evans served his country with the United States Army from 1964 until 1979, and was a member of the St. Clement's Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra Evans of Calhoun, and Bernadette Walraven of Plainville; a son, Scott Evans and his wife Casey of Calhoun; his mother, Wilma Evans of Calhoun; four sisters, Marilyn Calloway, Sandy Evans, Shirley Hamrick, and Pam Weaver, all of Calhoun; and a brother, Dwight Evans of Calhoun. Eight grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Sgt. Winston David Evans will be conducted Sunday, October 25th at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Gaddis officiating. Interment will follow in the Cooper Cemetery with full military honors provided. Active pallbearers will include James Weaver, Charles "Kokomo" Guyton, Timothy Evans, Bryan Walraven, Lamar Pritchett, and Scott Evans. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Sunday at 2:15pm.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday, from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
